Over 20 years of experience, George Flicker has prepared meals for the likes of U2, Bon Jovi, Green Day, Motley Crue, the Governor of California, Provincial Premiers and the Prime Minister of Canada, to name just a few.

As an Austrian born and Canadian raised culinarian, Chef George Flicker grew up in the cultural melting pot that makes up Canada and has incorporated his knowledge and experience of traditional, regional and international cuisines to influence his cooking styles and penchant for orchestrating superb banquets and executing on deliciously crafted menus, leaving a lasting impression with every visit.

Growing up in Edmonton, George can still vividly remember the anticipation and scents of the elaborate Sunday evening roast beef dinners that his mother used to prepare. From his earliest memories of childhood, he recalls that his mother has always been a great cook and a baker, and still remains so to this day. His mother’s love for preparing great meals, with a dash of European flair, passed on to him and remains as his primary inspiration. At home is where his passion for food started, and early on, he knew it was the path he would take in life.

Pursuing his passion, George would develop his skills and techniques at the French cooking school, Le Cordon Bleu, in Ottawa, ON. He further refined and honed his techniques and flavours at the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley, CA. After completing school, he would return to Edmonton and open Lux Steakhouse and work with the popular Manor Bistro, moving on to lead teams at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and the Edmonton Marriott.

George looks to enhance dining experiences through the creation of wholesome meals with superior sourced products. He truly believes that no matter your skill level in the kitchen, you limit yourself if you cannot source properly. Luckily in Alberta, he shared, “we have amazing locally grown produce and meats” and he has worked diligently on sourcing the best for his kitchens..

Chef George notes Thomas Keller of French Laundry, as one of his greatest influences, working under his leadership when he was at the Culinary Institute of America. Family remains George’s primary inspiration and he cultivates a love of food not only in the kitchens that he runs, with the teams he calls family, but also back at home with his twin children, which he knows will one day will carry on his culinary torch.
